Happy New Year....

Well, so far so good.

While many Americans were nursing their hangovers, consuming meat by products, and watching bowl games, Elmo led a select few muppets on a 100 mile fixed gear ride to Pt. Reyes Lighthouse.

Being the weakest link in the group (three studly young men all under age 30 coupled with our fearless hammerhead leader), I was a bit concerned that I might not be able to hang with the pace. Some of those West Marin climbs are relentless but the best thing about the Fixie is there are no options. Just pedal..........Elmo made sure I never dropped back to far..I guess that gun came in handy.
Nonetheless, the weather could not have been more cooperative, the sky was clear and blue, the views were spectacular and my compadres delightful. Much fun was had by all.

Sinatra: That's great that you were able to snap some photos of during our ride to the lighthouse - always hard to do while spinning a fixed wheel for a hundred miles over some of the nastiest terrain this side of the Flemish bergs. My computer recorded 39,ooo revolutions (or 78,ooo pedal strokes on the day). Again, my compliments.

Yes it was fun in aweird kind of fixed gear freaky way. I guess elmo has no time to blog since he's managing soooo many muppets around the world.

It seems like it might have been possible to calculate the revolutions ahead of time -- since they were fixed.

It does sound like a good ride -- grueling -- too.

That is so obvious. We should have thought of that – calculating the strokes ahead of time! All that damn pedaling for nothing! Argh!

Watts and revolutions only get you facts and figures but NO pastries. For vegan treats at Bovine Pastry shop in Pt Reyes, you must ride your bike.
Groetjes,
A Belgian Muppet who missed the fabulous ride
